As part of the continuing drive in the Bank to be more cost-conscious and as discussed at the Senior Officers' Meeting on 19 July 2007, staff are encouraged to reduce paper wastage by going "paper less" whenever possible and adopt the following suggestions when printouts are absolutely necessary:-
a) Printing on both sides (option available on laser printers that support duplex printing) to save paper
[Note: All Bank-wide laser printers that support duplex printing (capability of printing of both sides of paper) will have this feature as a default by mid September 2007. Where single-sided printing is required, users will still have the option to reset this option from their desktops/notebooks for selective printing]
b) Print two (2) pages per sheet (or whichever makes for comfortable reading, especially for draft copies)
c) Do a preview of the document (on screen) before proceeding to print
d) Select and print only the pages that you require instead of the whole document
e) When printing Microsoft Excel files, use the Fit-to-Page feature to automatically re-scale pages (with many columns) to fit evenly on one or several pages
f) When printing Microsoft Word files, you can change the default margin settings (smaller) during draft mode to use less paper for printing
Please contact the ICT Service Desk (ext 8000) for further enquiries on this matter.
